Chess, often referred to as the “Game of Kings,” is deeply rooted in ancient civilizations, evolving over countless ages into the strategic marvel we relish today. Across a board of 64 squares, with each uniquely purposed piece, the game goes beyond mere competition.
It symbolizes profound warfare, careful strategy, and the boundless depth of human intellect. Delving into its objectives isn’t a mere pastime; it is a quest. Such is the goal and fun of the Bentonville Community Chess Club. During the winter months, the club, which has about 10 regular players, meets at the Bentonville Library on the first Wednesday of the month. Starting in May, they take their boards outside to the Bentonville Square.
A meeting of the Chess Club in March was also part of NWACC’s Spring Arts & Culture Festival.
