U.S. District Judge John McConnell of Rhode Island ordered on Friday the U.S. Department of Agriculture to distribute money owed to recipients, according to early reporting. U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani in Massachusetts held a separate hearing today and ordered the Trump administration to brief her further on Monday, Nov. 3, before issuing a ruling in the case. The briefing will provide Judge Talwani with more information about the administration possibly reducing SNAP benefits in November, as opposed to ceasing them entirely, according to early reports out of the courthouse.
With the possibility of SNAP delays and disruptions, food insecurity could be coming to residents of Northwest Arkansas. For members of the campus community—students, faculty, and staff —who may be experiencing food insecurity, vital local assistance is readily available.
The Northwest Arkansas Food Bank provides a comprehensive and up-to-date resource for finding help throughout the region.
